70 days 8,000 runners 8,000 miles...

This thread will be to discuss the weather as it happens and as forecast for the whole of the Olympic torch relay as it journeys across the Uk each day from now until it reaches London and the Olympic arena in July. .

Please add pictures of it in different weather conditions.. esp when it & the runners have to cope with adverse weather.. thunderstorms and heavy rain and winds maybe??

Heres the live feed http://www.bbc.co.uk/torchrelay/day1

Watched the torch relay last night going through Saltash and onto the Tamar Bridge quite a spectacle, with thousands of people lining the streets, took a few pics on my mobile phone, as my DSLR is all packed ready for my US chase on Wednesday, weather was dry fairly cloudy and not as cold as previous days. Max temp yesterday in Saltash was 16.0C and when it went through around 1930hrs it was 13.5C

Just watching the BBC live feed of the relay and the weather looks terrible in the North West - they are travelling from Kendal to Blackpool today.

The evening do has been moved indoors rather wisely, this from Blackpool Council

Quote

"Despite the weather conditions, the Olympic torch relay will go ahead through Blackpool and we urge everybody to line the route and support the torchbearers."

"Unfortunately, the evening celebration that was due to take place on the Tower Festival headland between 4-7.30pm can no longer go ahead due to the weather conditions."

"Obviously this is disappointing but the safety of spectators and performers has to be our number one priority."
