Just came back on the train from Oxford, clouds bubbling up nicely.
From the train I could see rain falling somewhere over Witney way
Once home a rumble of thunder from that direction, but no more and no rain

Thunderstorm south side of Witney, Oxfordshire 14:20 30/5/12
We are on the edge of the rain - looks like there may be hail towards the centre of the cell.
Several muffled thunder claps heard, and a couple of sharp cracks.
No lightning seen yet.
Base of the cell is very unstable - camera at the ready

AM radio crackling like a chip pan, think I just heard thunder, and it timed in with a sharp spike on the radio, so possibly 3-4 miles away

Light rain has now started and thunder to the south. I think as usual this will miss us - patches of blue sky to the SW as the cell clears overhead

Quite a few showers in the eastern Channel looking like they may come on-shore in Sussex, although its hard to tell I suspect some of this is Anaprop?

Think they are the real deal (satellite imagery and their movement in line with the wind flow in that area supports them as showers).

Thunder now to NE (heading Banbury way), two distant rumbles within 2 mins.
Rain stopped and sun shining here now.

Just getting a few spots and the inflow from the ex-Oxford cell.

Looks like it might slip by to my south...

16.19 Still thundering here but the heavy rain has stopped - 4 flashes of lightening observed. The storm is now moving away East somewhere between Bedford and the Wellingborough/Rushden area.

Nasty looking cell S of Northampton at the moment - looking quite organised on the radar with strong growth on is southern side. Seems to be multicellular in its characteristic. This main line of storms should intensify further as it heads NE over the next few hours.

A few heavy showers now developing to the SW of London again...
