Another warm day beckoned (24C on car thermo.) - okay, perhaps not quite the soaring temps of late due to ever increasing cloud cover, adding to that a freshening breeze and something else brewing directly up above..
As per forecast - clouds gradually blossomed, hefty showers appeared from circa 3pm onwards..the first three kicked off proceedings and finally made the mouth-water, so to speak, a TS appearing quite rudely out of the blue! bringing with them some CGs/ distant thunder. The realization that some action (long overdue..) was within grasp and right on ones doorstep..

Luck does play a big part in these situations and as the storms pushed further away, rather briskly in E/NE direction, no doubt developing all of the time, was left sitting under a curtain of heavy rain and grey!...mainly contemplating how severe shall they or shall they not become? before petering out or how nice it would be to get beneath them further down the line (usually E Mids/Eastwards..) dictated by reports elsewhere.

Yet again, some localities close by remained almost bone dry and or thunderless..such is! [y]

Good stuff Ed. No sparks round our way (apart from one faint rumble in the mid-afternoon), but we had a torrential downpour with squally winds around 8pm - had a quite impressive 'Independence Day' look to the structure!

Nice shots Ed, is that the M54 in one of your photos? Welsh Marches and Shropshire always seem to do better for summertime storms when the flow is from the SE or E. Actually, gentle WNW/NW flows can be very good too. While living in Herefordshire through the 1990s the number of times storms would develop right overhead/or just to the east and then head across East Worcesterhire/Warwickshire and Bham to become much more lively!

Cheers guys, appreciated, Matt you were extremely close re location - road shots were taken at J.10A M6/54 junction, in direction of the main action, which pushed further eastwards and onwards.
What did become apparent is a gusty strengthening wind, directly after, perhaps outflow from the TS shown? very noticable - a few more notches (upwards...) in terms of temp/cape/Li etc etc may have provided a slightly more active scenario, beggars can't be choosers as they say [y]
