Sigh, after a brief respite it's déjà vu all over again. Quite a bit of variation in the models over where, when and how much rain will fall from Friday to Monday, and for westernmost parts the fun and games begins today.

So here we go again with members invited to post rainfall amounts and pressure readings in order to help verify the model output over the course of this period. Please try and keep chatter free :)

The LP to the SSW of Ireland, named "Giselle" by those with the penchant for such things is currently showing around 986 hPa in the centre with the nearest buoy as far as I can tell at 988 hPA.

They are more damaging as well, as parts of a tree not frequented by strong winds are attacked when the wind is in this direction.

Funnily enough, the Wellingtonia dropped a dead branch this morning. It made quite a clatter when it hit the ground.

UKMO 12z fax has the central pressure for "Giselle" at 985 hPa down from 989 hPa at 06z. Not much movement, roughly about 40-50 miles ENE in the 6 hours.

Rain has now reached here, with some surprisingly heavy bursts. As others have noted, some big raindrops.

Little rain here compared to the last system - barely a mm or two so far. I'm almost wondering (daring?) to think this wet/cold spell my be running out of oomfh...

GFS 12z has drastically reduced predicted rainfall totals for the SE in the T+120 timespan but it still has some amounts way over 50 mm for NW England and over 70 mm for S Scotland. Perhaps some subtle changes now that obs data is coming in.
