Distant thunder heard here in Lancing too just down the coast from you.

Just seen a lightning to the west towards the Portslade area but no thunder heard. Again my skyscan lit up for 3-8 miles so it's between here and Lancing.

That the first lightning I've seen for yonks.

Surprisingly not as much rain as I was expecting, 8.4mm from during the fronts passage through here. Still there's plenty of time yet to get plenty of deluges in!!!!

Edit to add Valentia Obs at 985.5 hPa falling slowly at 06Z.

A bit hard to tell if the LP has stopped deepening now as it tundles slowly up the west coast of Ireland, not many weather stations out there! Valentia Obs is up to 987.5 hPa at 12Z but it's quite a distance from the LP centre now. "Giselle" hasn't started its ENE track as yet.

Highest wind gusts in Ireland are Malin Head and Belmullet, both at 43 kts. with similar speeds at Scilly.

LP still moving very slowly indeed with Shannon Apt looking the neaerts to the centre at 989.5 hPa so it does seem to be slowly filling now and starting to nudge ENE.

Highest wind speed gust seems to be Mumbles with 57 mph. No great amounts of rain although Valentia had 19 mm from 06 - 12Z.

Analysis and model movement now seems the GFS and its more northern position did better with this low than the ealrier Hirlam and ECMWF ideas of the low moving ENE further South. A track across the Irish Sea close to the IOM and SW Scotland now seems most likely.

East Malling, my nearest official station, which is well inland is gusting up to 39 kts currently, so the real wind speed here is probably similar. Currently it's the second windiest June day in my site records - just 8 days after the windiest
