Hi all

Well and eventful day here in Alnwick today. Some serious flooding in the town and on the rural roads surrounding which meant a good few detours to get there!
The storm was pretty good, lots of flashes of CC's and crackling thunder. Not very photogenic however.

Later on I headed back to Amble then Hauxley to watch as the Newcastle storms drifted off over the North sea, filmed some nice crawlers and will have it up soon :)

Like the two pictures.
That first video looks scary at one point - shows why people shouldn't venture into floods.

Quite right - this is a stark reminder that just a few inches of fast flowing water is enough to knock a person over and carry them away. We often focus on the aspects like hail, tornadoes, etc, in thunderstorms, but more people are injured/killed by floods. The fact that you can choose not to go into a flood makes it even more tragic.

'Turn around, don't drown' is the motto from the NWS in the USA - perhaps we should adopt it here too.

How much rain actually fell across NE England yesterday? It seems to be topping the news headlines, but I was so focussed on what was going on in the Midlands, I didn't realise there was such significant weather up N...

Im not quite sure, Newcastle got the worst of it, but I dont know the rainfall rates, plenty of metro stations were totally flooded and a block of flats caught fire after being struck by lightning!

It also seems that there was a line of storms tracking NE and each one hit the Newcastle region so I think in the end they got a good 2 and a half to 3 hours of extreme rainfall

Nice captures Tony, that flooding video is scary watching the poor guy, struggle as already said a lesson for all, I think drivers need to be educated how to drive through floods too, most seem to plough on regardless without thought for the depth or other road users.
