After a clear, unseasonably cold night it looks as though the June cold is continuing into July - cold, dank and overcast so dark that I need room lights. Temp just 11.9C with a cold breeze and light rain. Liverpool AP is currently reporting 13C (dp11C) @ 10:30 BST. Visibility about 10 miles.

Richie, I was up early to look for noctilucent clouds but only saw them very weak. Also, saw Jupiter for the first time since earlier this year. It made a nice pair with Venus. It will be pay back time later though when no doubt tiredness creeps in.

Since my stroke last year I've have not done any astronomy at all, it's hard to handle a big scope when your body is only half working so to speak. but as I'm much better now I'm going to be out observing again as the nights draw in. Have not seen Jupiter and Venus telescopically for a while now, you've got me wanting to get out under the stars again .
