Damage to properties by 4x4 driving through floods was highlighted recently. It's not something UKww could possibly condone. Quite the opposite.

ie

we should think of others first.

Just to put the record straight guys. I was out on country roads well away from population. The only side dwellers that were getting splashed were the odd frog or passing hedge hog. Fully agree with your concerns regarding driving into villages etc ;)

PS. My 4x4 truck is essential for my business as a plasterer carrying heavy loads and is also my only mode of transport. Though I'm sure (or at least hope) that the comments made here were not in association with the anti 4X4 fraternity league!

Little video I took of the outflow from that line of storms that developed in west Norfolk this evening. (it was about 745pm - 20mins in 20secs) You can see when the outflow arrives as the grass starts moving quite a bit...

Fair enough Tony - it was the 'annoyance of other motorists' bit in your comment that I was responding to. I have a 4x4 too, but it is precisely because I know people who have suffered severe engine damage due to this kind of practice by other drivers that I a) go through floods very slowly these days and B) would urge others to at all times.

Cheers - John

Edit: I wish I could do a b in brackets in a list without the forum software producing some mush in sunglasses LOL!

Ah - thanks for that. Test: b)urge others to do so at all times

Excellent! It works!

Trust me John, the other oncoming motorists were busy developing surf with very little concern for others . A Hilux over flood water at 3 mph will inadvertently give a bigger bow wave than most cars. Its not deliberate but will irrespectively tend to annoy other motorists ;)

May be worth a punt this forthcoming week-end? widespread showers and even a few storms with a little bit of clout in any more risk prone areas.
Isn't August traditionally our most thundery of months Posted Image
