Report of funnel cloud near Dyce Airport Aberdeenshire between 1100 and 1200GMT on 29th July 2012.

Sea breeze convergence in area, plus line of showers with hard echo at southern end.

All looks plausible.

I noticed a tornado report in our local press this morning (Evening Express) but cannot verify if it was the same incident as no time is given for the observation

I was on the lookout for funnels etc. myself and while I saw interesting formations I didn't notice anything like what is shown above (unfortunately!)

Apart from a few nice anvils this bit (of scud?) was the closest I spotted to any interesting lowerings!

Have 'grainy' photo, that I unfortunately cannot attach, of said funnel photoed from Aberdeed sea front. Tuba appears to extend most of the way to the ground.

May have just touched down, but apart from disturbing a few trees, is unlikely to have caused any sig damage.

I think it's debatable, as the wording of those articles is highly contradictory, ie: "twister hovering above..." "funnel cloud touching down..." "tornado hovering within his vision..." - and if he saw it rise up from the ground to meet the condensation funnel, then why wasn't that his submitted picture considering his quote? "...first instinct was to just to try and get as many shots of it as possible..."

I think this has been hyped by either party, but without evidence of a touchdown (damage/disturbance/picture) it should be an FC?
