This green woodpecker took up residence on the lawn this afternoon.
Trotted about in the rain to start with searching, and finding, lots of ants, then when the grass got really wet thought about a bit of a rest.

Ed, probably a "she".
Don't know about startled by thunder - I hadn't heard any.
Possibly more likely keeping an eye open for red kites, there are a lot round here.
