Some very high thicknesses across the UK at present, midnight Camborne HERE showing TT1000-500 at 568Dm and is even warmer across the Channel with Brest near 570Dm.

This is a fair bit warmer than yesterday.

Camborne would suggest max temps near 30C, but this should be attenuated by high cloud and later across the far southwest by a wind direction change into the southwest.

Mis to upper twenties again seem quite likely with places northwest of high ground likely to see the highest, especially across parts of the west country and Wales.

My own thoughts suggest the Thames Valley again may see the higest Temps. Certainly the higher cloud further west will detract from the high thickness values. Less breeze further east too.

Suggeest Northolt to Windsor to Bristol the highs at 26-27C - elsewhere 22-25 across England.

If 27c is reached today that would make GFS a huge 5c out with its temp forecast today as its only got maxes of 22c! About 20.8c here but already very breezy and horribly milky sky so to be honest I can't see it warming up that much or much uv getting through!

Currently 23.9c in town almost the same as this time yesterday - was expecting 29-30c today but that seems unlikely here now with some cirrus moving in from the W.

Bit of a weird one as the synop max is actually 24.1 °C.

Dave thats because its reading the 1750 hourly obs from the day before when it was 26.2C so the 24.1C is correct

Decoded synop data. (17:58 mean solar time)
Time interval: 2 days before 2012/08/11 at 18:00 UTC.
