We were far from confident in the setup producing given the lack of positive forecasts for yesterday, but Julie and I tried our luck anyway, targetting somewhere near Grantham as being a prime spot for storms to be. Convergence was visible near Melton Mowbray and convection developing to the S. We punched NE toward the Vale of Belvoir barely keeping up with the convection, which by this point was producing some rumbles of thunder. Ultimately we pulled up just N of Grantham to see the now maturing storm rattling away to the NE, all moving too fast to chase and too far from home on this occasion. Looked mighty pretty through the lens of a camera with the sun beating on our backs though! Forecast wasn't too far out in the end, just the storms we chased only really got going near Grantham... not a bust, more a case of must do better!

A good set, even though it ran away from you.
Must have been very frustrating !

Numbers 2 and 8 my pick, at least you got some action Sam! the window of opportunity was there and you chose a good spot imo, Cbs seemed to develop quite late if not rather quickly and from nothing.Been there so many times before, something fires up and by the time you can say lights, camera, action they're gone! or are moving far too quickly for ones liking..that's the fun of chasing i guess [y]

Thanks guys... I rather liked number 6 personally. I don't think the main Grantham storm was an elevated base to be honest Glyn, though I've never really been a great judge of cloud base heights!

Good contrast in the last few... always nice to have the anticipation of a chase though isn't it.
